How to tell you are an ISTJ
The ISTJ personality values honesty above all else. ISTJs would rather deal with the truth of any given situation head-on than employ strategies like emotional manipulation, mind games, or reassuring lies.
1. A person’s actions should reflect their values, and ISTJs are the epitome of this with their strong work ethic and laser-like focus. Individuals who identify as ISTJ are reliable because they are patient and determined to get the job done.
2. ISTJs are highly accountable, as their word is as good as gold. If they have to work late or stay up late to get the job done, ISTJs would rather do so than let their word down. Individuals with ISTJ personalities have strong feelings of loyalty, and they always follow through on their obligations to the people and groups to which they have pledged their allegiance.
3. No ISTJ promise would be worth anything if they lost their cool and cried at the first sign of trouble; instead, they keep their feet on the ground and make clear, rational decisions. ISTJs take people’s preferences into account and strive to maximize each person’s unique set of skills, but they are motivated more by efficiency than compassion in their decision-making. The same holds true for constructive criticism, both of oneself and others.
4. Establish and Maintain Order ISTJs want to be successful in whatever field they’ve chosen, and they think that’s best achieved when everyone is on the same page about what’s going on and why. To ISTJs, it’s not worth the effort to put up with slackers or those who consistently break the rules. Maintaining order and following procedures increases reliability, while an absence of both can lead to dropped balls and missed deadlines.
5. In-One-Hand – Like Analysts (NT), ISTJs take great pride in their knowledge, though they tend to focus more on hard data than on abstract theories. As a result, ISTJs are well-suited to adapt to a wide range of contexts, where they can readily absorb and use new information and quickly grasp the nuances of complex problems.they’re all fine, but remember that nobody’s perfect. They have flaws just like everyone else does.
6. ISTJs are notoriously resistant to new ideas that aren’t backed up by evidence. The ISTJ has a hard time admitting error because of the factual basis upon which they make decisions; however, even they are human and can miss a detail.
7. Insensitive ISTJs may not mean to be cruel, but their belief that “honesty is the best policy” can sting the feelings of those who are more emotionally vulnerable. People with the ISTJ personality type may consider their feelings when deciding how to best convey a message.
8. Strictly by the Book ISTJs are rule-followers to a fault, believing that everything functions better when there are strict guidelines to follow. ISTJs can become almost paralyzed in completely unstructured situations. To an ISTJ, facts are facts and opinions are opinions, and they are not likely to respect those who disagree with or choose to ignore the facts.
9. They are overly hard on themselves and tend to assign blame where it isn’t due. All of this can lead an ISTJ to conclude that they are the only people who can consistently see projects through to completion. Over time.
10. ISTJs reach a breaking point when they can no longer deliver on their promises because they have taken on too much work and responsibilities while rejecting well-meaning advice and assistance. Since ISTJs tend to put the onus of responsibility squarely on their own shoulders, they tend to blame themselves when things go wrong.
